Who is Tommy Cakes?
Live on the Small Scale Life Podcast, it is Midweek Motivation featuring Tommy Cakes.
Hey, how are you? I am Tommy Cakes. Who am I? I’m a guy from someplace, friends with some people and doing some things. Don’t worry about it!
What I can tell you is that I am in the import and export business.
- I import knowledge
- I export that information at premium prices!
I will give you a little coastal cosmopolitan insight and motivation weekly on Small Scale Life.
Introduction – Life on the Road
It is a new day here in Central Wisconsin. All around me, the world is different shades of green as we are swinging into the middle of June. Everything is beautiful here in the heart of Wisconsin Cranberry Country. I have never seen so many Cranberry Bogs in my life!
If you look over the past couple of my Midweek Motivations on the Small Scale Life Podcast Page, you will notice a trend developing:
Unfortunately, that trend is my reality. Life comes at you fast! April and May were an incredibly productive months, but I was on the road quite a bit. I was a road warrior. What do I mean? From the end of April to last weekend, I wasn’t home for any of those weekends, for the whole weekend. I spent those weekends on the road in one place or another.
Now, I am not complaining, but all of that travel takes a toll. You just don’t have the time to recalibrate and adjust to life on the road. Everything at home gets out of control, and you feel like you are in free-fall. That’s just not good!
When you do get time at home, suddenly everyone has demands on your time. How can you get any stuff done when you are on the go all the time? The answer is: you can’t! You usually don’t get those things done.
Midweek Motivation Lesson – How to Adjust to Life on the Road
For me, I am recognizing that I have to reorganize my schedule and protect time. I need to say “no” to certain things and events, so I can take care of business. I know that Tom and Julie talked about doing this on a podcast episode titled 5 Steps to Developing a Simple and Intention Life. Frankly, I can’t wait until they do a deep dive on that topic!
Saying “no” and protecting your time can seem difficult, especially if you are a people pleaser like me. Maybe you start with cancelling a small event or task to get momentum.
One thing is true: you cannot do the same thing over and over and over and expect a different result. Life doesn’t work like that!
Protect some time. Get something done that was on your long to do list. Let’s give it a try this weekend!
Before I go back to the lounge, I wanted to wish all the fathers out there a very Happy Father’s Day. Enjoy it, fellas!
