Creatively Repurposing Containers for Gardening

Bren Haas is a fellow garden blogger and the organizer/creator of the ever-popular Twitter chat called “Garden Chat,” which occurs every Monday night at 9:00 PM Eastern time.  Recently, Bren asked me to write a guest post for her blog, and fortunately I was in the process of writing one and filming a video.  In this article, I talk about the freedom and creativity you can have with gardening:

  • Have a container?
  • Have some soil?
  • Have some seeds?
  • Have some water?
  • You can probably get some plants to grow in it!

As I wrote in the article:

“Before you start planting, however, take a few minutes and drill holes in the bottom of your containers (or top if you are using a water bottle).  The holes will allow proper drainage, and the holes will also allow you to water from the bottom.  Water wicks into the container when you water the seed flat, and this will hopefully curb fungus and molds from growing and spreading.”
